The process that dental implants involve starts with artificial roots that actually graft with the jawbone. These false roots, shaped like small screws, are planted into the jaw bone through a bone graft procedure. The medical-grade titanium screws eventually merge with the jawbone over time, creating a solid structure upon which the dentist attaches the artificial replacement teeth, referred to as dental crowns. A small piece known as an abutment connects the crown to these small screws. The abutment is designed to be a permanent feature that blends with your adjacent teeth, although it can always be removed by your henderson dentist if necessary. It can support a single tooth or a set of teeth, depending on how many teeth you may be missing. Each crown is fitted to your mouth to match the teeth that surround it. To the untrained eye, these crowns are virtually indistinguishable from your teeth. With properly fitted crowns, you can still eat your favourite foods and go about your day without thinking about your new smile. They look and feel completely natural.
